SMART FRONTLINE POLICING

Over 300 of the 550 Gardai recruited in 2015 are already working in our communities, and we’ll recruit 600 more in 2016. I want an emphasis on smart, effective, frontline policing with Gardai spending less time at desks and more time in our neighbourhoods.

I’m also proud that Labour introduced the Policing Authority to enhance the oversight of our policing services. We’ve also established the Human Rights and Equality Commission.
