Today marks the official launch of Eircode, Ireland’s new postcode system. Over the next two weeks, every residential and business address in Ireland will receive a letter in the post informing them of the new Eircode for that address. Members of the public are being encouraged to look out for the letter in the coming weeks and, when it arrives, memorise the Eircode and keep it somewhere handy.

Minister for Energy Alex White, TD, today (Wednesday) awarded grants worth a total of €18.6 million to 29 community energy efficiency initiatives. The projects will improve the energy efficiency of 2,435 homes and 400 public, private and community buildings. They are expected to deliver lifetime energy savings of €140 million in the localities concerned.”

By extending the rights and responsibilities of marriage we have made an enormous statement – to ourselves and to the world – that Ireland is a modern, generous and inclusive country that values all its citizens equally. I am particularly pleased that my own constituency provided such a clear endorsement for marriage equality, with 49,109 people in Dublin South voting yes to the proposal put before them, the highest number of yes votes of any constituency.
