Funding for Improvement Works to Social Housing
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin County Councils have been allocated €323,532 and €360, 873 in resources, respectively, to undertake improvement works to social housing.
This is good news for social housing in Dublin South. It will be of particular assistance to those with a disability or who face serious overcrowding issues, as just over a third of this funding will be set aside for adaptions and extensions to housing.
The remainder of the available funds will be invested in upgrading the energy efficiency of local authority homes this year. This is part of a three year jobs stimulus programme that will see the energy efficiency of the poorest insulated local authority homes improved.
As well as making homes warmer and reducing fuel bills, this also acts as an important boost to the local economy through the creation of vital jobs in the green energy sector.
