I warmly welcome the news that 1,304 new jobs have been created in our community by companies supported by Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) since their inception.

This year has seen is a 13.6% improvement on the previous year and highlights not only the strengthening economic recovery and growth, but this Government’s commitment to job creation and supporting entrepreneurship.

We are determined to provide every opportunity to entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses, and LEOs have made all Government supports available in a “first-stop shop”.

LEOs have also allowed us to put in place new measures, including the Trading Online Voucher Scheme, operated by my own Department.

This scheme provides grants of up to €2,500 for small businesses, so they can trade online.  I have seen first-hand the benefits of this scheme to local businesses here in Dublin South.

The scheme offers tremendous opportunities for Irish businesses to expand their markets and online presence and thus create more jobs and I am happy to say that in Budget 2015, I managed to secure an extra €3million in funding for the scheme.

The number of jobs created by LEO-supported companies is one of the remarkable success stories of the economic recovery and is a testament to the hard work and drive of our entrepreneurs and the support provided by the dedicated staff at Local Enterprise Offices across the country.
