Remembering Breandán

It’s been a very long day so I am just going to include a picture I took tonight in the room I was allocated in RTE before the Claire Byrne Live debate (all the candidates had their own rooms!).

Breandán Ó hEithir was a good friend and mentor who inspired me in my young days as a radio producer. He was a wonderful writer in Irish and English, and a deeply insightful observer of an Ireland that seems almost to have disappeared.

Certainly it was a country and a world where civility was valued far more than it is today. And he was the best of company. Ar dheis De…
